Obviously, this was a Deadheads Dream! Type Box Set - for the Beyond-Special occasion... Of 50-Years Upon Our Heads! Fantastic, to say the least... " 30 Trips " 1980 3-CD Set selection offered here... & I have to admit - that This! Lakeland, FLA Fall'80 30-Trips " Pick " caught me by Very-Pleasant-Surprise!! To think that it would have been Summer Tour'80 - at " West High" AK!!! -- or, if not that... One-of the (Un)-Official " 15th Anniversary " Shows in Boulder!! -- or, maybe even in P-Town... We had to pretty-much' assume' that the Warfield, Saenger (LA) & Radio City Shows would-likely be left alone?

We are going to get " All " of those in a Big Magical Super-Box! To the' Powers That Be'? And, though my fingers were-indeed Super-Duper-Crossed!

To get my own personal-favorite'80 Show... Treated to 11/28/80 at the Lakeland Civic!

Instead of all of these other " Educated-Guesses " - but, you know what? Oh yeah, and naturally too... Have thought we just-might get -- Alligator Alley? We sure did get a Dandy!

Of an''80 Representative' here - the 11/28/80 Lakeland, Florida Show - right smack-bad in between the Pembroke Pines, FL & " Alligator Alley " University of Florida Gators! Is indeed the exact-reason' why'... At the Radio City Music Hall the " Last " Night of the Massive!

Warfield > New Orleans > Radio City - New York City! Run was just exactly Twenty-Six 26! Days before this Fall'80 " Southern Tour " - I mean if you could hardly even call it that - a " Tour "... Being as that it was only Four (4) Shows in Only! --- and 3 of the 4 were All! With, 11/30/80 being the only Show on this Mini-Tour that was not' in' Florida, and was at the Fox in Atlanta instead. And I sure also hope that you might be a Guitar Player and/or Musician yourself - because then you can well-understand the situation at hand here -- advantage Fans! The Boys' Chops' were after the Massive!!! Acoustic/Electric'80 Shows (at the Warfield / LA / NYC) - and then right after that... They get basically a 1-Month' Break' 26-Days! Of those Shows being in Florida in... See what I mean here? Coming off of a Huge!

Run - so your chops are Right-On! Having to play that much Acoustic string music, and all...

And - you are in... With Nothing Left To Do But... The Sportorium - in Pembroke Pines... The Lakeland Civic Center - in Lakeland... Of Florida's' Alligator Alley'!!!

Speaking for myself - I only had' Audience' Recordings of Both! The Sportatorium Show & This! Plus, I'm pretty sure that Folks who haven't even heard Live-Dead before might even still have a nice board of " Alligator Alley "...

Of a Jack Straw straight out of the Gate! This' Rooster' - and the Passenger to shortly-follow is just Massive! Comes next,' clearly' to Fans De-light! And then Garcia grips the closing notes of L. Rain - and Rides DEAL!

Like a bat straight out of Hell! My oh my - did he just Love!

Strokin' the " Deals " in'80, or what? And, that goes for the JGB stuff too! " Bobby's Back " with a Killer! Stranger to open-up Set II!! And then, just Two (2) multi-song segues that are pretty-much Nothing!

I'm not sure if you can really' see-it' in the Set List alone here - but, this sure-was one of those encapsulated'80's Shows where Jerry & Bobby were really! Playing Cat & Mouse with each other, and trying to' one-up' the other... But, seriously - how can one ever really' one-up' sheer Live " Perfection "!
