Highly figured black and white limba guitar tonewood back and side luthier set
Figured lack limba guitar set. Backs irregularly shaped, about 8.3 wide at lower bout, 22 long, sanded to about 0.190. Thick Sides, 32 long, 5 wide sanded to approximately 0.130. Thick, a few more saw marks still present, This is not some of my old lumber, but rather a set I recently cut from a large kiln dried plank.
Black limba has a density and tone similar to mahogaknee, it does also have a faint bit more waxy/feel, like my persimmon or some of the ebony species. This set is from the plank that was by far most highly figured in a large lot I acquired.This figured limba also has several holes that need fill, not unlike ambrosia maple. Pleas supersize the photos and examine. Wetted with mineral spirits to help show color. The edges have not been jointed, as I have left them as wide as possible.
